Ric Flair Claims He Will Never Wrestle Again

Retiring from in-ring competition with WWE at Wrestlemania XXIV in 2008, Ric Flair was given the send-off every pro wrestler dreams of. Following a classic match with Shawn Michaels the night before, Raw paid tribute to a career which spanned multiple generations. Vowing he would never again lace up the boots, Flair later left the company and signed with TNA.

Wrestling several matches on television and Pay-Per-View, Flair broke his promise, something which confused many of his most loyal fans. Angry at having been suckered in by such a heartfelt retirement ceremony, there was a feeling that Flair had tarnished his legacy.

Upon leaving TNA, talk has turned to Flair once again appearing on WWE TV, albeit in a non-wrestling role. Speaking recently in an exclusive interview with The Sun UK, Flair dismissed a return to in-ring action, saying he couldn't out of respect to Jerry Lawler - who suffered a heart attack just months ago.

"I want to be in the ring but it will never happen again. Firstly I said I'd never wrestle in WWE again. And then there's the Jerry Lawler incident. It really did affect me. I like Jerry very much. What happened to Jerry was terrible, and thank God he's OK, but I wish people wouldn't gauge me by what happened to him. Everybody's an individual. I think it kind of put a decision on my future in the ring, you know what I mean? And that's fine, because I went back to the ring in TNA, and that will never happen again", Flair told The Sun.
"I'll rock the world when I get back on TV. You know that. You don't even have to ask the question! Everyone knows I'll rock the world. I'm very excited to get back in there soon."
