Jushin Thunder Liger Joins The UK Revolution
Not many pro wrestling fans will need an introduction to Jushin Thunder Liger. One of the most accomplished technicians and high-flyers to ever step between the ropes, the New Japan Pro Wrestling star fittingly revolutionised the junior heavyweight game throughout the 1990's and is a genuine legend worldwide.
Revolution Pro Wrestling announced yesterday that the decorated performer (who has held over 30 championships during his wildly successful career) has signed on to appear for the promotion on June 15th at York Hall in Bethnal Green, London. The event, entitled 'When Thunder Strikes', now has a tremendous buzz surrounding it – TNA British Bootcamp contestant, Marty Scurrl and current IWGP Junior Heavyweight champion (a strap Liger has held 11 times), Fergal “Prince” Devitt are also scheduled to appear.
This is huge news for UK wrestling to be able to attract such a legendary figure renowned across the globe, and is certainly a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see such a terrific performer for many fans. Liger has never competed under his current character in the country, only wrestling for All-Star Promotions under the name “Flying” Fuji Yamada in the late-80's. Indeed, as Yamada, Liger would capture the World Heavy Middleweight Title twice, defeating Mark “Rollerball” Rocco on both occasions.
In a statement on the RevPro website, company officials stated they will “be pulling out all the stops to ensure that Saturday June 15th goes down as a night to be remembered for a long time to come”. Tickets for this prestigious event go on sale from 6pm on Monday February 25th over at www.revolutionprowrestling.com. Prices start from £15 and tickets are likely to go quickly for this historic evening. Follow RevPro on Twitter @RevProUK for breaking news. Please also use the hashtag #FSM.
