Excitement As UK Promotions Form Working Relationship
LDN Wrestling haven't promoted women's wrestling since 2007, when their Capital TV show aired for the last time on the now-defunct TWC Fight! (The Wrestling Channel). Since then, companies such as Pro Wrestling Eve have been championing the women's grappling scene in the UK, pushing female wrestling to the forefront and receiving deserved plaudits in the process.
Saraya Knight, promoter of Bellatrix – formerly known as the World Association of Women's Wrestling, recently announced striking a deal with LDN, which would see both companies cross promote and run shows together. This is exciting news for female wrestling fans, and the first time LDN will promote women's wrestling for nearly six years. Understandably, Saraya is delighted to bring the best of the UK's female scene to LDN shows, feeling the relationship between both promotions can only be a good thing.
“To be honest, it was more of a challenge to Sanjay Bagga (promoter of LDN) personally. I knew his views on female wrestling, and I wanted to prove to him that the girls are as good as the boys. He isn't really convinced, so it's down to the girls to prove this to him. I am confident that the talent in the UK today can blow the stigma attached to women's wrestling out of the water. My daughter, Britani has taken our style over the pond and she is making an impact in WWE (as Paige)”, Saraya told FSM.
“I urge people to come and support us, and watch us prove Sanjay Bagga wrong, because I believe female wrestling at the moment is at an all time high. Sanjay will eat his words, and we will be running shows together showcasing female talent in the best halls in the country”.
Under their new name, Bellatrix will hold their first event on March 24 at Epic Studios in Norwich. Tickets are available by calling 0800 046 8164. Stay tuned to FSM for more information on upcoming shows promoted by Bellatrix/LDN.
