FSM Exclusive: Former Heavyweight Boxing Champ Heading To PCW

Preston City Wrestling are no strangers to bringing top names from around the globe to the UK; stars such as Chris Masters, Lita and even The Steiner Brothers have performed on PCW events, in front of growing crowds. The promotion, established in June 2011, already has a significant buzz surrounding it, with FSM editor, Brian Elliott even describing the company as having, "taken the best bits of British wrestling and updated them for a young audience that is influenced by WWE".

In huge news, PCW have announced that former Heavyweight Boxing Champion, Riddick Bowe will make his in-ring wrestling debut for the company on March 1, 2014. Bowe, who defeated Evander Holyfield for the title in 1992 and has a record including 33 KO's, stated in a press release from PCW, "I want to be first heavyweight boxing champion and heavyweight wrestling champion. I have trained hard with those bumps."

The 6ft 5in tall Bowe's opponent for the match has yet to be announced, but the former WBA, WBC and IBF Champion will appear for a final contract signing on February 28, 2014, when details of the bout are released. Both wrestling and boxing fans alike will be interested by the prospect of Bowe stepping into the pro wrestling arena, and it's expected that his inclusion on the card will raise PCW's profile even further.

"This is an exciting coup for Preston City Wrestling", PCW owner, Steven Fludder told FSM. "Riddick Bowe is one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time and has been training hard to make the transition to the wrestling ring".
