Believe it or not, but Triple H really does deserve to be at the top of the tree...
Without a doubt, Paul Michael Levesque is one of the most vilified superstars to ever stride towards the squared circle. Better known as Triple H (like you didn’t know that!), the man has incurred the legitimate wrath of fans around the globe with his supposedly ‘selfish’ ways and twisted political activities backstage. If we’re to believe the rumours, Levesque has literally married his way to the top through his relationship with Stephanie McMahon-Levesque (Vince’s only daughter), held back countless superstars whom he’s felt threatened by and ruthlessly secured a future position as one of the owners of the world’s biggest wrestling organisations.
But is this hatred and spite justified? Or is The Game in many ways, misunderstood? Upon FSM’s last peek behind the curtain at the man from Greenwich Connecticut back in issue 18, we concluded that he was indeed ‘an uncontrollably, self-centered bastard’. Rather a harsh summary, we’re sure you’d agree. But on the flipside though, a fairly reasonable counter-argument has arisen recently: specifically, that Triple H has held the World title far frequently over the past four years than ever before and, rather more interestingly, has actually earned himself another title run. Optimists have concluded that Triple H has nothing but the best interests of the entire company at heart and has even embarked upon a strong run of selflessness. Seriously.
But is either assessment anywhere near the truth? Everyone’s entitled to an opinion and we doubt the genuine haters are going to change their minds any time soon, but that doesn’t mean it’s all bad for Hunter…
