According to numerous sources, including www.WWE.com, Chris Benoit and his family have been found dead at their home. At the current time it is believed that Chris, Nancy and son Daniel are those who have died. No further information has been publicly released, although authorities are carrying out an investigation at the Benoit family home.
Benoit was scheduled to face CM Punk at WWE Vengeance on Sunday, but apparently could not make the show due to a family emergency. It is not known whether he and his family died before the show took place. (He was replaced by Johnny Nitro, but the only explanation given on the broadcast was that he had to attend to a "personal issue".)
The news comes just days following the death of Benoit's friend and fellow Canadian wrestler Shane "Beef Wellington" Bower. It is expected that the current Vince McMahon is dead storyline – which has also seen Sherri Martel pass away since its inception – will be scrapped at the three-hour Raw special, which had previously been scheduled to be a Vince McMahon "tribute show". It will now, instead, honour Chris Benoit.
