FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 29 JANUARY 2009
NEW EDITOR HERALDS IN 'NEW ERA OF AWESOMENESS' FOR FSM
Ten-year magazine veteran Martin Mathers replaces outgoing editor James Denton as king of the FSM ring
It might seem like just another issue of the UK's most dynamic and exciting pro wrestling and MMA magazine, but issue 37 of Fighting Spirit Magazine is an important landmark for the publication. After three years of crafting, nurturing and generally making the best magazine of its kind, James Denton has left FSM to pursue other opportunities - in his place, Uncooked Media welcomes Martin Mathers, a long-standing veteran of the magazine industry and a massive pro wrestling fan to boot.
Mathers, who comes to FSM having worked on publications such as Official Nintendo Magazine, gamesTM and X360, may seem like a newcomer to the wrestling world; however, having grown up watching everything from WWE and WCW to World Of Sport and even shows at holiday camps, he's become a fountain of grappling knowledge and believes that this, combined with the wide array of encyclopedic writers under his command, will help take FSM into uncharted wrestling and MMA territory through 2009.
"I'm obviously sad to see James go, because he's done an amazing job putting the magazine where it is," said Mathers. "But equally, I think this is the perfect opportunity to push the magazine forward into new and exciting areas not just in terms of wrestling, but also global recognition. We've already got some very intriguing ideas of what to do next, so I can only ask people to watch this space for more news. And while they're waiting, FSM will obviously continue to have the highest standard of features, event coverage and reviews just as it always has. We've even managed to convince James to contribute going forward, which is the best news I could have asked for."
