Pro Wrestling: EVE Wrestle-Fever

The Delphi Club in Sudbury played host to Pro Wrestling: EVE on November 10, as they held their 10th show. It was a fitting way in which to reach double-figures.

The top attraction for many fans was former TNA star Angelina Love's contest opposite Carmel Jacob. Their collision went to a quick disqualification finish, though, only for Erin Angel to be added as Love's partner in unsuccessfully combatting Jacob and the interfering Sara-Marie Taylor. The impressive tandem of Jacob and Taylor cheated their way to victory.

In the Match of the Night, Alpha Female defended the EVE championship against Nikki Storm. Twenty minutes of intense brawling ensued, as the two tumbled around the building, incorporating all manner of furniture into the match. Tables, chairs, and even a car door became part of the debris. Storm got herself over enormously, not because of the weapons spots, but because she convincingly came across as desperate to win the title. Surviving a spear through a table, she battled back, and following multiple chair shots and her elevated neckbreaker, she caused the champion to pass out. Many fans welcomed the title switch, and all appreciated the effort of both combatants. It was, therefore, an apparently misguided moment when the show concluded with a confrontation between Storm and Emi Sakura, after the new champion ran her mouth, challenging anyone and everyone. Sakura took her up on the offer, then pinned her in less than a minute, following her impressive 450o splash. Storm looked foolish here, far too soon after coming across as a great heroine.

Elsewhere, a tag team tournament dominated proceedings. Viper and Bete Noir emerged victorious overall, following a good match with April Davids and Kaori Yoneyama, The latter tandem had pinned British Bootcamp stars The Blossom Twins in the energetic opener. Strangely, the tournament victors squeezed passed the Owens Twins in the first round, when Rhia O'Reilly and her partner, Ayesha Ray, abandoned their triangle match. Given how much fun O'Reilly is to watch, this was disappointing. Amongst the rest, Sakura's JWP openweight title defence against Kay Lee Ray was the stand-out, ending when she rolled the challenger into a La Magistral Cradle. Blue Nikita also had a fine night, toppling Kirsty Lee.

When the dust settled, Wrestle-Fever offered enough twists and turns to satisfy any wrestling fan. It remains to be seen if the impromptu climax was the correct decision, although it certainly establishes the proposed February re-match between Sakura and Storm as a must-see prospect.
