Scott Steiner Drops Lawsuit Against TNA
Legal troubles between Scott Steiner and TNA have been reported here on fightingspiritmagazine.co.uk before. Leaving the promotion in March, Steiner would unleash a tirade of negative remarks against TNA, Dixie Carter, Hulk Hogan and others, leading TNA to sue their former employee.
Counter-suing on grounds of negligence, Steiner claimed he was injured due to being forced to work with an intoxicated Jeff Hardy on a November 2011 house show.
The lawsuit filed by Steiner states TNA, "Knew or should have known that their agent, employee, representative and/or servant was too incapacitated, and/or under the influence of a controlled substance and should not have been allowed to enter the ring, thus endangering the life, health, well being and safety of Scott Rechsteiner".
Filing another claim against TNA for non-payment of royalties, the latest news is that this lawsuit has been dropped. Sending a letter to Nashville court on Monday, the suit was officially dropped on Wednesday. Still outstanding, the lawsuit against Steiner for his outbursts on social media, as well the aforementioned suit against TNA for allowing Jeff Hardy to "wrestle in an alcohol or drug impaired condition" will continue in court.
Speaking in the pages of FSM, Jim Cornette added his two cents to the situation, feeling Steiner is adding some much-needed colour to the world of pro wrestling.
"These days, there's a lot of gossip about these things, a lot of money on the line, and a lot of legalese thrown back and forth. It's just that in the 'good old days', at least there was an entertaining story to be gained out of it", Cornette wrote.
"Forgive me, therefore, if I am less than impressed by today's bland legal entanglements, although I am watching the Scott Steiner lawsuit closely, because I love not only his promos, but the balls he has to keep cutting them in the face of legal threats. Go, Scotty, go - you're my new hero!"
