Ric Flair Health Update

Reported yesterday on fightingspiritmagazine.co.uk, "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair (right, with Antonio Cesaro and The Miz) was pulled from the booking sheet on the afternoon before Monday's Raw event. Due to take part in an in-ring roundtable discussion, with Bret Hart and Jerry Lawler, looking at the Wrestlemania main event WWE Championship match between The Rock and John Cena, company officials instead decided Flair should go to hospital after a medical check.

Flair's agent, Melinda Morris Zanoni of Legacy Talent & Entertainment released the following statement on Tuesday evening, following thousands of inquiries into the well-being of the legendary grappler.

"Ric is doing well, he feels great, and is home. WWE's medical staff performed a physical on Ric yesterday, like they do all of their athletes, and recommended that he have a doctor take a closer look at his swollen leg. Upon arriving back in Charlotte today he went to see his doctors and it was determined that there is a blood clot. He was not admitted to the hospital, rather released with medication, which the doctors are confident will work quickly causing Ric to completely heal soon. Ric appreciates everyone's concern and is looking forward to seeing fans at his next scheduled appearance in Hagerstown, MD on Friday and performing for WWE very soon."

It was noted yesterday that WWE management and medical staff weren't sure whether or not Flair had suffered a blood clot in the same leg which forced him to miss dates for All Japan Pro Wrestling in January, but felt the risk was not worth taking. As it turns out, such caution was clever; Flair does have a blood clot in his left leg. Thankfully, the clot can be dissolved with use of medication, and Flair has not been kept in hospital.
