Bully Ray: PPV Market Is Saturated

In 2011, TNA achieved something WWE couldn't; successfully re-packaging one half of The Dudley Boys/Team 3D as a singles wrestler. Re-booted as somewhat of a modern-day Dusty Rhodes and evil reverend respectively in 2002, WWE simply couldn't get mileage out of Bubba Ray or D-Von Dudley outside of the tag-team division. By the end of that year, the team was back together.

Thriving since splitting from his longtime tag partner, and now known as Bully Ray, the former is clearly one of TNA's success stories over the past few years. As outspoken as he is successful, Ray recently appeared on Busted Open Radio to discuss his current character and a variety of topics. Giving a viewpoint which will please most wrestling fans, Ray shared his opinion that when it comes to wrestling on PPV, less is definitely more.

"Love it. I think it's an awesome idea. I think the wrestling world is entirely saturated with pay per views. I remember growing up as a kid and only getting those four to six pay per views a year which had that big time feel. Now every time you turn around there is a pay-per-view every month. I would love to see TNA go the route of doing something like the NWA did back in the day and put on almost like a free pay per view on Spike TV one Sunday. I don't make those business decisions, but I think it would be great for luring new fans to our product. I'm very, very confident that once wrestling fans who have never seen TNA, if they would just get to see it once or twice, I think they would be hooked."
